About

My current research explores 20th c. U.S. environmentalism within a transnational context. My most recent article “The New Ecology of Power: Julian and Aldous Huxley in the Cold War Era” was published in 2010 by Cambridge University Press as part of a collection of essays on the Cold War and the environment. My work has also been published in Agni, The Berkeley Poetry Review, Endeavour, MungBeing, New Times Los Angeles, and The Quarterly.

I grew up in Claremont, California. After earning my bachelor’s degree in history at UC Berkeley, I traveled to East Asia, where I taught English Composition at Nanjing University in China. I first came to Boston University to study poetry and then returned to earn my PhD in history in 2007.
